Flower Friday for Ronald McDonald House

Flower Friday for Ronald McDonald House

First look at “Flower Fridays” – Donations benefiting the Ronald McDonald House created from FortuneBuilders events team member Sophia Martinez.

Earlier this year, Sophia’s little brother was undergoing treatments at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego. During one of her visits, she was inspired to tour the Ronald McDonald house, which provides the ‘home-away-from-home’ for families to be close to their children who are receiving treatment at Rady’s. Many of these children have life-threatening illness or injuries. She was inspired to give back, so a week before Mother’s Day, she organized taking boxes of fresh flowers as an uplifting gift to the Mothers staying at Ronald McDonald house. Some flowers were made into centerpieces and others were placed on tables where the families could enjoy a warm meal, cooked by volunteers. This small act brings another little piece of home to families staying at the Ronald McDonald house.

Impressed by the structured volunteer program of the Ronald McDonald house, Sophia wants to be a part of this community of caring individuals and encourages others to do the same. The simple gift of flowers can bring joy to a family during a trying time and the Ronald McDonald house is always in need.  Perhaps this activity could be a fun community project for you to bring together your friends and family on Fridays to share in the joy of giving!

Flower Fridays has created a flourishing relationship with the FortuneBuilders family and the Ronald McDonald house. Currently the events team is collecting any unused toiletry items at the Cass st. for a scheduled donation drop-off Wednesday, August 8th.
